The Ruby on Rails, or simply Rails web application framework created by David Heinemeier Hansson was originally released in 2004. In the past more than a decade it became very popular thanks to the ‘Don’t repeat yourself’ and the ‘Convention over Configuration’ principles just to mention a few of its advantages.

One of the basic principles of ITware is the continuous research for new but proven technologies in order to widen its solution portfolio. This principle was behind the decision of setting up its Ruby on Rails competence as well.

The advantages of the technology are proven by such success stories as the Ecolane project where the customer is a US based company’s Finnish subsidiary and the rewrite of the GUI of the FLEETware fleet tracking solution.

In the Ecolane project ITware rewrote the existing PHP code of the GUI of the customer’s route optimizer solution in Ruby on Rails and refactored the backend in Java. The Finnish customer was so satisfied with our performance that we made another frame contract and now we provide him with additional T&M based outsourced software development services as well.

Upon the success of the Finnish project ITware decided to rewrite the GUI of FLEETware, its popular fleet tracking solution in Ruby on Rails in order to improve its efficiency and the user experience. The result of the development not only made the users able to continuously monitor their vehicles but provided real time access to their large amount – sometimes a couple of million record long – historic data.

The dedicated professional Ruby on Rails team of ITware is always ready for new challenges where the only limitation is the clients’ imagination. It’s only up to you to decide when you would like to join us on the ruby red train towards a more efficient future…
